What is In-House Independence
InHouseIndependence.com is a blog discussing all things relating to personal finance and the transition from biglaw to life as an in-house counsel. Topics include career change, life as an in-house counsel, personal finance, early retirement, the legal industry, and more.

Who am I

In addition to being a lawyer for a large multinational company, I am a dedicated husband and dad, a coffee addict, a big fan of all things outdoors and a personal finance enthusiast. Prior to making the jump in-house I practiced law (primarily mergers & acquisitions) at two AmLaw 100 biglaw firms for six years. I graduated from a lower T-14 law school with roughly $250 thousand in student loans and spent my time in biglaw repairing all of my loans and building up a nest egg. While not there yet, I’m well on my way to financial independence. I hope this blog provides insights for others on or interested in the same journey and look forward to engaging discussions with readers. I’ve thought about starting a personal finance blog since I started reading WhiteCoatInvestor way back in law school, but until I made the jump from biglaw to practicing in-house, it was never something I was willing or able to devote the time to.
